Mindfulness Self-Compassion

Join Clare, a mindfulness expert and facilitator, on a transformative free workshop to down-regulate the stress response, activate self-care and embrace self-compassion.

In this session, we will :-


  • explore ways to be kinder to ourselves 
  • develop a mindset that is more nurturing and caring towards ourselves through learning about what self-compassion is and what it isn’t
  • explore the research behind self-compassion
  • experience short guided mindfulness self-compassion meditations to self -soothe and tame the inner critic with kindness and care
  • strengthen the inner quality of peace kindness and connectedness to enhance wellbeing and develop a more nurturing mindset to quieten down the busy mind
  • learn some gentle mindful movements to calm the mind and body


This is an interactive workshop and participants will learn short meditations and techniques to use in daily lives. You can participate as much or as little as you like.


The group will be no more than 16 people.

A Mindfulness Course for Staff in Schools

Mindfulness offers a way of reducing stress and preventing low mood, it also has the potential to improve the way we live, helping us to flourish and experience a deeper sense of joy, contentment and resilience. The sessions will explore the essential principles of mindfulness through a combination of guided meditation practices, exercises, and group discussion around the practical applications of mindfulness in the daily lives of participants.


This course will support you in developing your own mindfulness practice. 

 

Participants are encouraged to do 10 -15 minutes of daily home practice using the meditations that are downloadable, and using handouts sent each week. 

 

The course is made up of 8 weekly 90-minute sessions and is taught online via Zoom to a  group of up to 16 members of staff in the evening, in the comfort of your own home. 

 

Participants will receive weekly handouts and meditations to download. Certificate at the end of the course. 


Breakout rooms are used for discussion groups.

About Clare McRobbie 

Clare was a secondary teacher for over 25 years teaching in Glasgow and Cardiff. As a Senior Leader in an inner-city secondary school in Cardiff, Head of School - Pupil Development and Wellbeing and also Head of Healthy Schools in Cardiff (from 2009-2011) she led whole school approaches on Wellbeing. She trained in Mindfulness to teach the young people in her school Mindfulness in Schools programme. Clare left teaching in 2015 to focus on teaching Mindfulness and Wellbeing courses as a freelance teacher. She went back to University part-time and studied at the University of Exeter where she gained an MSc in Psychological Therapies and Mindfulness - Based Cognitive Therapy. 


She has taught well over 40 Mindfulness-Based 8 - week courses to members of staff in schools and adults in the community and workplace settings. She has also taught Mindfulness to children and young people in schools as well as delivering Mindfulness and Wellbeing presentations/workshops in a variety of settings to staff and managers in schools and workplace settings. 


Clare is listed as a Mindfulness teacher on the British Association of Mindfulness Approaches (BAMBA) and she follows the Good Practice Guidelines for teaching mindfulness-based courses as laid out by the UK Network for Mindfulness Teachers.
